Mental Map

http://kelsocartography.com/blog/?p=3024
Mental maps are a highly abstracted personal point of view of an environment that reflects an individuals knowledge and biases of that location. This map shows the conception of a three year old's subway world in New York City (NYC). This was done with the help of the map creator and its based on the location's that the map maker's nephew (3 year old) knows and likes. Of course this is not going to be an accurate depiction of the NYC subway network, but it is based on the biases and knowledge of the three year old's point of view, such as his home, church, dining out locations, and residencies of friends' locations.
