Doppler radar is commonly used to make atmospheric profiles of clouds. This includes their motion and the composition of the particles in the air, particularly precipitation. The map shows an F4 tornado hitting a General Motors Plant in Oklahoma City. The different shades indicate varying intensity of wind speeds (green being lower wind speeds and red being the most intense).
