Cartograms

Cartograms are maps created by substituting a different standard of measurement for distance or area. In this map of the 2008 democratic primary between Hillary Clinton and Barrack Obama, the size of the area is determined by delegates, and the color scheme depends on the difference in votes (percentage wise). As can be seen, although Clinton seemed to have won at the very least evenly in land distribution (states), the difference in percentages was more overwhelming in the places that Obama won (Chicago) as opposed to the places where Clinton won. This map is not as conventional as a regular cartogram in the sense of the added dimension of tint included in showing data (as opposed to just size and area).
